Completed your NCTJ diploma and wondering what to do next? Then the NCTJ wants to hear from you.
The ambassador scheme is looking for new recruits to champion and inspire the next generation of journalists.
What is an NCTJ ambassador?
So having reviewed https://newsassociates.co.uk/what-is-the-nctj/, what does being an ambassador involve? Since the scheme launched in July 2024, ambassadors have engaged with students, promoted high-quality training, and highlighted the wealth of opportunities for young people in journalism.
Using resources like the NCTJ personality quiz and the Where your story goes campaign, ambassadors help to increase the representation of Gen Z journalists, driving trust, quality and diversity in journalism.
New opportunities for young journalists
There’s currently a disconnect between young people’s interest in journalism and the feeling that the news doesn’t really represent them.
The ambassadors scheme aims to reestablish trust in the media and highlight the opportunities for fresh, young voices to be heard. It’s designed to show young people that they can build a career in new forms of journalism, from podcasting to data storytelling.
