Gadgets and Gizmos connected with the modern world of computer technology are changing and becoming more sophisticated seemingly on a daily basis. We are all guilty of wanting the latest version of the smartest mobile phone, computer, tablet or laptop and we are much too quick to throw away an older version so we can buy the newest one on the market. We MUST, however, stop being a wasteful, environmentally harmful, throw away society and learn to embrace a “New Normal”. Refurbished Laptops, are now the hot topic of conversation on the high street because they offer an environmentally friendly option to getting the latest software without throwing anything away. STOP sending masses of tech gadgets to Landfill, think about the Environment, Carbon Emissions, Global Warming and Climate Change.
Did you know that 70% of our overall toxic waste is made up of electronic gadgets, and only 12.5% of that is recycled, 85% of E-Waste is sent to Landfill or incinerators where the extremely harmful toxic gases caused by burning these electronic devices is released into the atmosphere. This wasteful, detrimental burning procedure can cause serious damage to our kidneys and central nervous system!
We must all embrace recycling, and refurbishing, if we don’t change our throw away culture and become much more environmentally aware, then our fragile Earth will face a Global Catastrophe that we may never recover from.
